I’d met with Laura & Chris to discuss their wedding plans a few months before the wedding. We’d gone through what they were looking for  and they had quite varied taste in music, but mainly like Indie/Alternative groups.

Village Hall weddings are great if you’re prepared to do a lot of work. You’ll need to think about catering, decoration and organising as you’re normally just hiring an empty shell. You need to put a good team in place to help with things like setting up and taking down and cleaning up at the end of the night. Having said that, the can be great as everything is exactly how you want it to be. It’s a good idea to have a Master of Ceremonies to keep your time line flowing and make sure your guests are kept informed of what’s going on and when.

Laura & Chris celebrated their wedding at Islip Village Hall, Oxfordshire. They got married earlier in the day at Oxford Town Hall and had then had a hog roast and reception at Islip Village Hall. I’d been booked alongside a band with myself playing the 1st dance, Steal The Light by The Cat Empire and the band to do then do a set.

On the night I played music from The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Killers, Kings of Leon, Franz Ferdinand, Arctic Monkeys, Jet, The Coral, Guns n Roses, Bon Jovi and guests request from Chaka Deamus, Katy Perry, Kenny Loggins, and some Hip Hop. Lot’s of dancing and singing with Chris taking to the stage to play air guitar until I managed to find him an inflatable guitar that I had in the back of the van. He hung onto that all night!

All too soon the end of the night had come and the guests almost had to be forced out of the door so packing away could begin. The next morning a team was on hand to go in and clean up the hall.
