Jo & Mike booked me for their wedding reception at Phyllis Court Club. They live in Australia, so a meet was going to be a bit of a problem, therefore a Skype video chat was arranged.

Their main concern with hiring a DJ was “they wouldn’t play the music we wanted and would play more club music”. My details had been given to Jo by Victoria Rant, the Senior Sales & Event Executive at Phyllis Court Club, with the glowing recommendation that I was going to be DJ’ing her wedding in September.

Jo & Mike made excellent use of the online planner (one of the things they later said they’d loved about their booking experience) to give me a varied list of music they liked and more importantly, what they didn’t like. The don’t plays included anything by Abba and any of the cheesey dance routine type songs like the Macarena and Gangnam Style. But they had picked lot’s they did like such as Khe Sahn – Cold Chisel for all the Aussie’s, as well as lot’s of rock tracks from the likes of Bon Jovi, John Farnham, Journey, Queen, Status Quo, Boston and Rick Springfield. Moving into some Indie/Alternative Rock from the Killers, Blur and Violent Femmes. Plus some classics from The Contours, The Cure, Michael Jackson, The Blues Brothers, Paul Simon and Cyndi Lauper. Ending the night with lot’s of singing to Never Forget – Take That at 1:30am.

There were also lot’s of guests requests including Motown, Soul, Current Chart, more Indie, Rock and Pop.

Jo, Mike and guests dancing and singing along to Bohemian Rhapsody – Queen.

and Put Your Hands Up – Reef, Laid – James

After Jo & Mike returned from honeymoon they sent me an email to say “We were very impressed with you at our wedding.  Mike and I and all our guests had a fabulous day.  The evening music was perfect, exactly what I wanted and from the fact that the dance floor was occupied from about 8.45pm until 1.30am I think shows you did a fantastic job!

A lot of people commented to me about how they liked you as our DJ because you weren’t intrusive and didn’t interrupt the proceedings with pointless chat/comments over the microphone etc and just played good music that linked together very well.  They also liked that you were happy to play requests.”

This is the Google review that Jo left for me after the wedding…
